You have done well.

This right here.
I’m sick of seeing dumbassed Internet discussions where people are trashing what is actually a wonderful cartoon for all ages because of the fandom that follows it.
Because following that principle, almost anything that has some kind of fanbase behind it would be something people can neglect. But realistically that doesn’t happen.
Everyone has their own kinds of liking and disliking for certain things, but each kind of opinion is (or should be) rationalized. And no, ‘just because’ is not rational.
Case in point. Bronies is the infamous fanbase behind My Little Pony, right? Well the problem with Bronies is that like in any crowd, the idiot stands out the most. And what do stand-outs do? They become the representation of a community. Which is why every fanbase there is has a negative reputation to the world because the loudest of the crowds are the idiots that represent it.
So disliking the show because of the fanbase is just, to put it simple, pointless. It’s a different thing if you watched a few episodes and didn’t find the show to your liking. But it’s a whole another thing to dislike the show because of the people who are head over heels about it.
TL;DR - When you are bashing on My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, remember exactly what are you trashing about; the show itself, or the mere standouts of the fanbase crowd that makes the rest look like bird-for-brained idiots?
Think about it.
The fandom? Awful, absolutely awful. The show itself? Good. Very good. The only people I like from the fandom are some of the artists I discovered before everything went flying downhill.
Let’s face it, while the show is good the fandom has devolved into the equivalent of the sonic fanbase. Yeah, it’s real pitiful.
